Collaborative Spreadsheet Art Using Google Docs and Spreadsheets

I am a huge fan of the Google Docs and Spreadsheets system.  I love how I can share documents and edit my writing anywhere - even without my laptop.  One thing people don't see a whole lot of when they use this system is the template section.  They have all kinds of great templates that you can use for your documents.

But, the reason for this post is Google has shared a short video featuring how you can create art using a speadsheet document.  It shows the power of collaboration and what you can do with it.  Happy Holidays!

The New Star Trek

It has been coming for a while and I have been quietly waiting.  But, today, there is a new trailer and it has something special in it around the 1:48 mark.  If you saw the trailer already, you need to view this one.

Star Trek Meets Monty Python

When you take Star Trek and set it to Monty Python music, magic happens...

Will this ever stop?  I think he is a good sport and, maybe, his career will be revived.

Gianni Schicchi: Barbershop Style

A doowopera rendition of the classic soprano aria from Gianni Schicchi. It is quite funny but you be the judge...I don't really get the joke since I am not an opera fan but this is an example of a "classical mashup". I suspect this kind of thing has been happening for years. Long before the Internet, anyway. And some people think mashups were only done and "cool" during the information age. Pssh.

Hey, Dad, I'm In Jail: Spike and Mike's Twisted Toons

This really has nothing to do with anything but, thanks to Wil Wheaton's post, I was reminded of the Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Film Festival.  My friends and I used to go to this every year when it appeared at the Roxy Theatre in Victoria.  The films were always bottom rung humour that either grossed you out to confused you.  The film "I'm In Jail" (or whatever the title was) is a film that leaves you confused.

Take On Me The Literal Video

I don't know why but this makes me smile. I remember back when this song first came out it was such a hit that I actually danced to it. Several times. Danced badly. In living rooms mainly.  But, for your enjoyment, let's remember together...

Star Trek as The A-Team

I received an e-mail today that encouraged that I watch this trailer and imagine what the series would have been like.

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem. If no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire, The A Team.

Christian the Lion - A Wonderful Legacy

I saw this video some time ago (or possibly the documentary) but thought I should share it again as it is one of the more heartwarming things I have ever seen.  If you don't know anything about Christian the Lion, he was a lion originally purchased by Australians John Rendall and Anthony 'Ace' Bourke from Harrods department store of London in 1969 and ultimately reintroduced to the wild.

Below is their first reunion after Christian had been in the wild for almost a year.

Below is a brief documentary style video about this video which became popular on YouTube.

I wanted to give you an idea of the size of the park where Christian the Lion was released.
